The Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) is a free service located in Perth providing crisis services to people who have experienced a recent sexual assault in the last two weeks and counselling for sexual assault / abuse experienced recently or in the past. SARC also provides a range of information, resources, education and training for professional workers, volunteers, students, community members and people who have experienced sexual trauma.

SARC Education and Training offers a range of free professional development opportunities to students and professionals working or volunteering in government, non-government and private organisations. Presentations are delivered in a variety of formats including e-learning, face-to-face, online, generic and customised training.

Education and training offerings are generally free (full day and customised sessions incur a fee) and vary in length.

Some education and training sessions are offered several times per year, others can be specifically booked.

The free e-learning package Sexual trauma and responding to disclosures of sexual assault takes approximately 2 hours to complete. It has been developed for workers in health, teaching, mental health and helping professions. It aims to increase knowledge and understanding about sexual assault issues and to increase workers' ability to effectively respond to disclosures of sexual assault from adolescents and adults.

Other topics include:

  • The impact of trauma

  • Building on trauma knowledge

  • Vicarious trauma and self-care
