Cause and effect

This strategy will help students to:

  • develop an understanding that when something happens for a reason (the cause) this produces an impact or a result (an effect)

  • understand that effects can be short or long term, simple or complex.

Implementation

There are various examples you can use when using the cause and effect strategy.  The stimulus of an 'event' (what happened?) could be replaced by a product, process, event, failure, or problem.

Cause and effect example: Relationships (teenage pregnancy)

Utilise the attached table to record a chain of cause and effect that could occur during a relationship. An example is provided for guidance.
