PNI (positive, negative and interesting)
PNI (positive, negative and interesting)
This strategy will help students to:
-
identify and consider positive, negative and interesting aspects of a situation or problem.
Implementation
-
Explain that considering the positive, negative and interesting aspects of a situation or problem can help students reach a decision.
-
Give groups a copy of the PNI worksheet.
-
Pose a question, statement or scenario for students to consider. For example, should advertising featuring highly sexualised people and situations be banned or restricted in Australia.
-
Students then brainstorm the positive, negative and interesting implications and record these on the worksheet.
-
Students discuss the generated ideas with the class then indicate their opinion in the negative or affirmative.
