The SSSC includes representatives from all states and territories, including Catholic and Independent schooling representatives. eSafeKids

Kids Helpline

Kids Helpline is Australia's only free, private and confidential, telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25. The website also provides lots of valuable information for kids and parents.

Let's talk about where babies come from

Non-fiction

Comics and cartoons outlining:  similarities and differences between girls and boys, growing up, reproductive organs, how babies are made, what sex is, what is love, same sex attraction, conception, pregnancy, different types of birth, genetics (e.g. hair colour), different kinds of families, keeping safe (consensual touch), HIV (but not other STI/BBVs). A book that parents/teachers can read to younger children, or older children can read themselves.

Multicultural Communities Council of WA (MCCWA)

MCCWA supports and advocates disadvantaged individuals from CaLD backgrounds to realise their potential as active contributors to the economic, social and cultural life of WA. Their youth program includes a 'youth conversation circle' which provides opportunity for newly arrived migrants to practice their communication skills in a health, wellbeing (including sexual health) and relationships context.

A digital resource suite by Family Planning NSW for parents and carers of children with intellectual disability and/or autism.

Puberty and special girls

A simple yet sensitively written picture book that covers changes in bodies and appearance during puberty, good hygiene and other issues including protective behaviours and feelings for young women with special needs.

SECCA

SECCA is a non-profit organisation which supports people with disabilities, in their efforts to learn about human relationships, sexuality and sexual health across the lifespan. Offers education and training, counselling and consultancy services.

Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT

Provides reproductive and sexual health services throughout the ACT. Includes schools education programs, training and workshops.

So what is a vulva anyway?

This UK resource is aimed at educating young people about the vulva (the outside part of the female reproductive system that is often misnamed ‘vagina’). The booklet uses illustrations to normalise the wide range of ‘normal’ when it comes to the appearance of the vulva. It also details the changes which happen during puberty that are often not described.

SoSAFE!

SoSAFE! uses a standardised framework of symbols, visual teaching tools and concepts to teach strategies for moving into intimate relationships in a safe and measured manner, and provides visual communication tools for reporting physical or sexual abuse. Provides teachers, trainers and counsellors with skills and simple visual tools to enhance the social, social-sexual and social safety training of people with moderate to severe intellectual disability.
